How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed by Google Play, not by the app, so deleting the app does not cancel anything. Open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, choose Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select the app and tap Cancel subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
Step by step
- Cancel through Google Play, not the app
Open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture in the top right, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select the subscription and tap Cancel subscription. Uninstalling the app never cancels billing - this is the single most common cause of an unexpected charge.
- Cancel free trials at least 24 hours early
Google Play processes renewals slightly ahead of the stated end time. If a three-day trial ends on Thursday, cancel by Wednesday. Cancelling on the final day frequently still results in a charge.
- Confirm the cancellation actually took effect
After cancelling, the subscription should still be listed but marked as expiring on a date. If it does not say that, the cancellation did not go through. Check that you are signed in to the same Google account that made the purchase - a second account on the same phone is a common cause.
- Request a refund
Go to play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory, find the charge, and choose Report a problem, then Request a refund. Google handles refunds directly for Play purchases. Requests made within 48 hours are usually automatic; older ones are reviewed manually.
