Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask before they install anything.

Do I need an app to mirror my phone to my TV?

Often not. If your phone and TV both support Miracast, or both support Google Cast, mirroring is a built-in feature of both devices and it is free. Samsung calls it Smart View, LG calls it Screen Share, Hisense calls it Anyview Cast. An app is a convenience layer that finds devices across all three protocols in one list; it is not what makes mirroring possible.

What is Anyview Cast?

Anyview Cast is Hisense's own name for the Miracast receiver built into VIDAA televisions. It has shipped on many Hisense models since around 2014 and it is a free, built-in TV feature. Hisense TVs that run Google TV or Android TV instead use Chromecast built-in and have no Anyview Cast at all.

Is Anyview Cast available on Samsung or LG TVs?

No. Anyview Cast is Hisense's own name for its Miracast feature and exists only on Hisense VIDAA televisions. Samsung and LG do have the identical underlying technology, just branded differently: Samsung calls it Screen Mirroring or Smart View, LG calls it Screen Share. So the feature you want is on your TV, under another name.

Why does my TV not show up when I scan for devices?

The most common reason is that your phone and TV share no mirroring protocol, in which case the TV can never appear. After that, the usual causes are the two devices being on different Wi-Fi bands, the TV having mirroring switched off, or a guest network with client isolation blocking discovery.

Can a Google Pixel mirror to a Samsung or LG TV?

No, not over Wi-Fi. Pixel phones have no Miracast sender, and Samsung and LG televisions have no Chromecast built-in. The two share no protocol. Use a USB-C to HDMI adapter, or add a Chromecast to the TV.

Why is my screen black when I mirror Netflix or Disney+?

Streaming services apply DRM that blocks mirrored output. You will see a black screen, silent video, or an error depending on the app. This is enforced by the streaming app and by Android, and no mirroring app can bypass it. Use the service's own cast button or install its app on the TV instead.

Is screen mirroring good enough for gaming?

No. Wireless mirroring adds roughly 100 to 300 milliseconds of latency regardless of which app or protocol you use, and encoding video continuously makes the phone heat up and throttle. For gaming, use a USB-C to HDMI cable.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Through the Google Play Store, not through the app. Tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select the app and tap Cancel subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel billing. Cancel at least 24 hours before a free trial ends.
