How to connect, in the order that works
- Open Screen Share on the TV. Home, then Screen Share - open it on the TV before scanning from the phone. Leave it open on screen. On 2018–2020 webOS models the television does not advertise itself on the network until this app is in the foreground.
- Then scan from the phone. Only now will the TV appear in your phone’s cast or Smart View list. Scanning before this step is why the list comes back empty.
- Accept the prompt on the TV. The connection is not live until it is confirmed at the television end.
Which Android phones can use Screen Share?
Screen Share is Miracast underneath, so the only question is whether your phone has a Miracast sender. 5 of the 8 phone families we track do. 3 do not, and no app can add one.

Is Screen Share on TVs that are not LG?
No. Screen Share is LG’s brand name, in the same way Smart View is Samsung’s and Anyview Cast is Hisense’s. Underneath, all three are Miracast, which is why a phone that mirrors to one usually mirrors to the others. The brand matrix lists what each manufacturer calls it.
Is Screen Share free?
Yes. It is part of webOS and there is nothing to buy or install. If your phone has a Miracast sender, you do not need an app of any kind — including ours.
Does Screen Share work with an iPhone?
Not Screen Share itself, which is Miracast and Android. AirPlay 2 is available on 2019 and newer models, iOS only. Our compatibility data covers Android only — see About for why.
What to use when your phone cannot
If you have a Pixel, or a current OnePlus or Motorola, Screen Share is not available to you and no app changes that. The working options are a USB-C to HDMI adapter, or adding a Chromecast to the LG so it speaks Google Cast.
