Why your TV calls it Screen Mirroring, not Smart View
This is the confusion that sends most people looking. Smart View is the sender, not the receiver. It is the button on a Samsung Galaxy phone, in the quick settings panel. On the television the same feature is labelled Screen Mirroring, and it lives under Source, then Screen Mirroring - or simply accept the prompt that appears on the TV.
So if you have hunted through your TV menus for something called Smart View and found nothing, your television is not missing the feature. It is called something else at that end. Both names appear in our Samsung compatibility page for exactly this reason.
Which Android phones can use Smart View?
Smart View is Miracast underneath, so the question is only ever whether your phone has a Miracast sender. 5 of the 8 phone families we track do. 3 do not, and no app can add one.

Is Smart View on TVs that are not Samsung?
No. Smart View is Samsung’s brand name, in the same way Anyview Cast is Hisense’s and Screen Share is LG’s. The underlying technology is identical on all three — it is Miracast — which is why a phone that mirrors to one usually mirrors to the others.
That also means the feature you want is probably already on your television under a different name. The brand matrix lists what each manufacturer calls it and where the setting lives.
Is Smart View free?
Yes. It is built into the hardware at both ends and there is nothing to buy or install. If your Samsung phone and Samsung TV both support it, you do not need an app of any kind — including ours.
Does Smart View work with an iPhone?
Not Smart View itself, which is Android and Miracast. Samsung televisions from 2018 onwards support AirPlay 2 instead, which is the iPhone route to the same screen. Our compatibility data covers Android only — see About for why.
What to use when your phone cannot
If you have a Pixel, or a current OnePlus or Motorola, Smart View is not available to you on a Samsung TV and no app changes that. The working options are a USB-C to HDMI adapter, or adding a Chromecast to the television so it speaks Google Cast — which Samsung TVs do not include. Smart View is not working
The first thing to rule out is compatibility, because that is the cause no setting fixes. After that, the most common Samsung-specific failure is a network mismatch: Samsung TVs will silently refuse a connection in some setups where the TV is on Ethernet and the phone is on Wi-Fi.
